Sainte-Eustache residence
THE OWNERS OF RÉSIDENCE SAINT-EUSTACHE HAVE BEEN COMMITTED TO THIS PROJECT FOR SEVERAL YEARS.
We were able to put our expertise to work to make their dream a reality. The result is a prestigious home in their image, with arefined, authentic aesthetic. The Saint-Eustache residence is spread over three floors, with a total of 3975 sq. ft. including a 675 sq. ft. garage. The first floor features a vast open-plan living area that includes a vestibule, living room, dining room and kitchen. The mezzanine features a master suite and two offices. The basement features a training room, guest bedroom, bathroom, laundry room and mechanical room. The garage is large enough for a car and a woodworking shop.
A post-and-beam structure
The solid pine post-and-beam structure is visible throughout the first floor and mezzanine. This work was entrusted to a specialized subcontractor. The ceilings are made of exposed pine planks. Securing this imposing wooden structure to the rest of the house’s conventional structure required a certain innovation in our construction techniques. We succeeded in building a well-insulated, airtight house that complies with Novoclimat standards. Its CAH ratio was measured at 1.67.
Solid wood stairs
A great deal of care and detail has gone into the creation of this solid maple staircase. A play of thickness between the stringers and the treads lends the work its presence. A flawless finish and a combination of glass and wood/metal balustrades ensure a breathable, uncluttered look.
A stone fireplace
At the heart of the living room, a majestic fireplace lets you enjoy its radiant heat in comfort. The two-door fireplace is high-performance and exceeds EPA’s minimum standards. The stone cladding that rises to the ceilings makes it a masterpiece of the home. Both inside and out, the presence of stone combines with that of wood to create a warm, rustic tone.
Wood everywhere
The windows are a hybrid of stained and varnished light pine on the inside and black aluminum on the outside. The exception is the front door, which is made entirely of wood, giving it a more prestigious and elegant look. The knotty pine interior doors and mouldings have been factory-stained and varnished, giving them an unrivalled finish. Maple was chosen for the floors, a harder, more stable wood that is durable and always elegant.
Heating and air conditioning
The Saint-Eustache residence is equipped with a central heating and air-conditioning system. A high-efficiency heat pump with humidifier has been installed. The upstairs bathroom floor is heated by electric wires under the ceramic tiles.
A prestigious eco-friendly home
The house was awarded LEED Gold certification. Many ecological measures had to be put forward to achieve this: durability, energy performance, local sourcing of materials, materials with recycled content or FSC-certified, plumbing fixtures allowing reduced water consumption, healthy materials and superior air quality, etc. Its energy performance is well above the average for conventional post-and-beam housing.
